Personal Work

General notes. I spent two evenings photographing the live performance of the Whatcom Symphony Orchestra. Flash was not permitted and I could only take pictures when the music was playing as to not distract from the performance. I was given reasonable access to areas in the audience that would not be obnoxious. I wanted to capture the feeling of classical music and the somewhat lyrical performance of some of the individual musicians and the conductors. My exposures were purposely long to allow for the rhythm and movement that I felt in the music. Portraying this in a still image needed to allow for compositing the "actors" on a stage that had the look and feel of classical painting techniques where shadows play and integral roll in the final composition. I truly wanted classical music portrayed in a classical painting style.
