Personal Work
Photographer: Mark Bergsma
General Note: "Emerging Conceptions" is a work that has evolved over time and reflects some of the change in image making that has taken place for me in the last 10 years. Originally this image was captured on Fuji Reala negative film. I love the quality of capturing images with negative films as the contrast range is extended beyond that of transparency film allowing for more control over the richness of the subject itself and how I would like to handle it as a fine art photographer. The before image represents how the image looked printed on Fuji Crystal Archive paper printed with traditional RA-4 chemicals. The after image represents how I would have preferred the image to be portrayed with a more homogenous and dreamy feel. I added a subtle soft focus technique to the image that is not very apparent on the web based image and purposely removed the greens to reveal the uniform structure of the vertical white tree trunks.
