Personal Work

Photographer: Mark Bergsma

A photographic journey to Shi Shi beach of Washington's rugged coast captured this panorama image on Fuji Velvia Fim with a 6 x 7 Mamiya RZ. It was captured as a three paneled image for later compositing. I had to work quickly as the overhead clouds were moving rapidly with the onshore breeze. The before image is a representation of the original capture.

The original transparencies were scanned on and Imacon Flextight Scanner and optimized using the Flexcolor propietary software. These three images were composited together in Photoshop and some clouds were cloned into position to fill out the final composition. Lighting, saturation, and contrast were controlled with localized masks to create the final image. I have printed "ShiShi Elemental Passage" as large as 36 x 84 on Breathing Color's Optica One papers using a color managed workflow and an Epson 10000 printer with archival inks.
